8 Easy Office Interior Design Tips

1 Consider the user

When designing an office interior it’s vital you consider the user. Different users require different office interior design techniques. For example, a contractor would need a large table for spreading their plans.

2 Neutral walls

When it comes to office interior design it’s widely recommended you paint the walls a neutral colour like pale blue or light beige and then compliment this with bold artwork that represents your company’s personality or image. A further tip would be to rotate the artwork at least twice yearly.

3 Low-pile carpet

Always choose low-pile carpet when doing office interior design. The carpet can also be accented with a number of fantastic throw rugs that are best suited to informal seating areas such as reception or the lunch room.

4 Hide clutter

Wherever there is space it’s worthwhile installing shelving and cabinets to aid in hiding any clutter. Another handy office interior design tip is to also buy matching baskets, which can be distributed around the office.

5 Customise workspaces

Always customise every employee’s workspace based on their height, weight and condition within the company. Every worker requires a unique workspace; this is the key to great office interior design.

6  Informal area

A great idea for office interior design is to create an informal area away from the normal workspaces. Fill the area with a comfortable couch, perhaps even a couple of bean bags, and create a better overall working environment in the process.

7 Place plants

An important tip to consider in office interior design is the strategic placement of plants around the office to both keep the air clean and soften the décor. It’s recommended you choose hardy plants that only require small amounts of natural light.

8 Diffuse sunlight

Keep direct sunlight out of the eyes of employees by hanging sheer drapes. To counter this, provide extra overhead lighting or even desktop lighting.

Here are some other home office design suggestions:

Arrange your work area in an L or U shape - this way you'll have all your important items within easy reach.

Consider a computer armoire - if you don't want your home office design to look like an office or if the space doubles as a guest bedroom, a computer armoire would be perfect. It will hide computer equipment, save on space, and make a beautiful furniture addition….perhaps even a focal point You'll also have extra space for a wall bed or a daybed.

Install the right lighting - you'll want a desk lamp so that you have adequate task lighting, and a second lamp or built-in lighting fixtures for general lighting. Use a dimmer switch for built-in lighting.

Purchase a comfortable chair - if you plan on spending lots of hours at your desk, make sure that you get a comfortable chair with adequate back support. Consider one that swivels if you'll be turning to retrieve papers or to answer the phone.

Install sufficient shelving - you'll need shelving for reference books and to display collectibles and personal items. Built-in shelving would be an excellent space-saving choice, but there are plenty of quality assemble-it-yourself options.

Consider modular storage pieces - they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from stackable cubes to shelves and have optional lids, doors and drawers.

Your home office lyout should be able to utilize your space and create a place perfect for business. That is your ultimate goal: to be able to work. You can't do that without proper home office designs. So, below, we will explain how to achieve them:

One: plan around the room. Unless you have the means to expand your area, you will have to learn to work around it. Your home office designs must incorporate all parts of the room, even those you may wish you didn't have.

If your room features odd angles or low ceilings, you will need home office designs that will maneuver around these obstacles. When done properly, home office designs will make an undesirable space quite functional.

Plan ahead! Do not just assume that every piece of furniture will work. Measure the room and get the dimensions so you'll know what to choose.

Two: make your space count. Home office designs should allow you to make every inch of your room work for you--there should be no wide gaps of unused wall space or cluttered spaces. You should be able to plan and make the area work.
